Attention Veterans or the Surviving Spouse of a Veteran:
Veterans or surviving spouses may qualify for the Veterans Administration’s “Aid & Attendance Program”.
This program provides monthly benefits which can cover the costs of assisted living care and services.

Aid and Attendance

The Veteran's Administration's "Aid & Attendance Program" provides benefits for veterans or surviving spouses in need of assistance with their activities in daily living who meet specific requirements. Services provided in an assisted living setting qualifies.

Qualifications for Benefits

Individuals interested in the Veterans Administration's "Aid & Attendance Program" benefits must meet the following criteria:
  • The veteran or surviving spouse must spend the financial assistance on out-of-pocket medical expenses.
  • The veteran or the surviving spouse (or married couple) would have to have less than $80,000 in assets. This excludes a primary residence and a vehicle.
  • In order to qualify for this benefit, the veteran would have had to serve at least 90 days of active duty. One of those days needs to be during a recognized period of war.
  • The veteran or surviving spouse would need assistance with their activities of daily living.
